VLORA, Sep. 7 – Street protests asking for the return of their properties in the Karaburun Peninsula were followed with a different kind of protest this week.
Scores of Dukat residents in the southwestern region of Vlora district went to the peninsula, despite the difficulties to reach there, and tried to set some wires to show their properties.
The Dukat residents have long been complaining that the government is taking their property and giving it to concessionary to companies. They consider it their property though the authorities are not giving them any deeds.
Vlora prefect Hasan Halili said the next day that many of the people claiming the property had no documentation to prove it.
