TIRANA, July 20 – Albania’s largest bank has again been named the country’s best bank by Euromoney magazine, the world leader in the coverage of global banking and financial and capital markets.
Raiffeisen was named Albania’s best bank for the sixth year in a row.
“In 2009, Raiffeisen Bank strengthened its position as the market leader through a combination of organic growth and cutting costs,” says the magazine.
Responding to the selection, Oliver J.Whittle, executive director of Raiffeisen Bank in Albania said, “We are very proud that the famous magazine Euromoney has again chosen Raiffeisen Bank as the best bank in the country, and we have more confidence that we will continue to grow and to face future challenges as we have done so far.”
He added, “Raiffeisen Bank in the Albania showed growth in 2009, despite the economic crisis and was still in first place in all key performance indicators.”
The bank was purchased by Raiffeisen International in 2004 and is the largest bank in Albania with a total balance of nearly $2 billion.
