TIRANA, Dec 8 – Ilir Meta of the Socialist Movement for Integration offered his hand in negotiations with the main opposition Socialist Party leader, Edi Rama, to discuss the electoral code law.
The law was passed by the parliament last month but later turned down by the president, asking for clarification of some wording referring to his competencies.
Meta tried to exploit that offering for another ‘opportunity’ to the Socialists to renew their talks on some articles in the code, basically of the participation of their members in the electoral commissions in charge of counting the votes.
Rama welcomed the invitation but also said that discussing the election code was beyond their limits as his party has clearly said they will promptly correct what the president asked for, but no more.
That further deepens the friction among these two political groupings of the opposition.
Rama-Meta, hardly working with each other
