TIRANA, Oct. 27 – Prime Minister Rama, on a three-day visit to Hong Kong, where he took part at an economic forum attended by about 100 entrepreneurs from Hong Kong and the rest of China, urged investors from the region to look at opportunities in Albania.
The prime minister said his cabinet was reshaping the model of economic development, trying to turn it into sustainable development in areas ranging from oil and minerals, to energy, tourism, agriculture and manufacturing.
“Albania offers to foreign investors comparative advantages in terms of geographical location, tax system and labor costs,” he said.
Rama said that investment in Albania meant a broader market, that of the region in the Western Balkans.
Now the region, once considered a powder keg and engulfed in different wars, has turned almost into a common market, with favorable tax and labor costs, he added.
Rama also introduced Albania as a good tourist spot too, saying that “tourism is a priority sector of the economy and has a high development potential.”
Tirana aims at making Albania more attractive for visitors from China, creating a tourist market for the large country.
An artist earlier in his career, Rama also exhibited some of his recent drawings during his visit to the Chinese special administrative territory.
