TIRANA, Nov. 26 – Prime Minister Edi Rama made a visit to China this week to take part in a two-day economic summit that Beijing held with 16 Central and Eastern European countries in an effort to increase economic and political ties with the region.

Rama held a meeting with Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang, seeking Chinese investments for infrastructure projects in Albania.

The summit was the fourth of its kind and was headed by Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang. It focused on promoting the partnership and considering new proposals for cooperation in infrastructure, economy, agriculture, trade exchanges and the like.

Rama said the summit confirmed the political will and the commitment of the 17 countries to raise to new levels their cooperation.

Rama said that the Albanian government would support and be committed to further improve such a partnership, adding that the bilateral ties are being increased with many new projects.

Rama tried to promote Albania’s tourism as a priority national sector that could attract many Chinese tourists coming to Europe.

He said that together with Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia, Albania was working to find funding for the Adriatic-Ionian highway, or the Blue Corridor, as it is better known.

It was Rama’s second visit to China this year and third since he came to power more than three weeks ago.
