Hackers demand that property and funds be confiscated from criminal groups and given to the poorest in society.
TIRANA, July 29 – Albanian hackers attacked and took over several government sites Monday, placing political and social demands in the sites of several government ministries.
Many government websites – with the exception of the prime minister’s office, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Agriculture – were breached by a hackers’ group identifying itself as “Redanons_Al Justice.”
The hackers put up messages of protest, saying the recent government reform on the education system is unacceptable, condemning a government plan to register all users’ cell phone hardware IMEI identifying numbers and others.
Other demands included confiscation of goods and properties from criminal groups which then can be used to help the poorest part of society. They also sought to cut the salary of the parliamentarians in half.
As the breach took place during the Muslim holiday of Bayram (Eid), the hackers did not forget to wish everyone a Happy Bayram, calling for continued religious harmony in Albania.
All the government sites were back to normal in a few hours.
