TIRANA, Nov. 27 – Minister of Economy, Industry and Energy Genc Ruli analyzed on Monday the European Commission’s recent annual report on Albania. Ruli said that, in general, the report was positive towards his ministry. Ruli considered the report “a document with values on the evaluation of the work and progress of special sectors under this ministry.” The minister added that each department had to carefully consider the report and bring out the requirements they need to fulfill in the future. The minister said that staff should speed up its rhythm for higher performance. Ruli said that the privatization process planned for next year was of special importance. The delay has come as a result of the clash between the laws on privatization with those of property restitution. He added that this has already been resolved, and privatization in 2007 will be faster. A positive evaluation on the facilitation of the bureaucratic procedures for business launches was also been mentioned. The report pays special attention to necessary further reforms, especially in the energy sector. More work is needed in the creation of proper legislation for metrology and consumer protection, according to the minister.
