TIRANA, May 8 – Participating at Shangai Expo last week, Albanian Agriculture Minister Genc Ruli invited Chinese companies to invest in the energy, mineral mining and agriculture sectors in Albania.
Several Albanian officials participated in the international fair, which is one of the most important of its kind ever held.
Organized from May 1 to Oct. 31 in China, the fair attracted the Albanian delegation for a visit and presentation on Albania’s schedule national day at the fair.
Albania has several years of continuous economic growth when much of the world has been affected by the global economic crisis, Mr. Ruli said in his speech.
He added Albania offers potential to Chinese and international investors in several sectors.
“The energy sector presents great interest for investors as only one third of the potential hydro energy is being used,” Minister Ruli said. “Albania’s energy sector presents great opportunities for investment.”
He added Albania is rich in minerals and invited Chinese mining companies to invest.
Albania has undertaken many reforms to promote foreign investment, including a low tax regime and special protection for foreign investors.
