TIRANA, Sept. 9 – Saudi Arabia has joined international condemnation of Iran’s cyberattack on Albania’s digital infrastructure, according to a statement issued by the country’s foreign ministry.
“The Kingdom affirms its support and solidarity with the Republic of Albania in the measures taken to protect its cybersecurity,” the Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Twitter.
The statement added that Saudi Arabia “stresses the importance of strengthening and coordinating international efforts to maintain peace in cyberspace, developing specialized capabilities to ensure the continuation of efforts in addressing cyber threats, and taking decisive measures to combat these threats.”
The Middle Eastern power’s statement joins those of several NATO allies in support of Albania after it cut off diplomatic ties with Iran earlier this week.
Albania’s government says that it had identified “without a doubt” the Iranian state as the source of the mid-July attack.
