TIRANA, June 1 – The New York-based Scanderbeg Air Corporation said Monday it would start New York-Tirana, Albania direct flights.
A 214-seat Boeing 767-200ER will hold eight-and-a-half hour trips from JFK New York to Mother Teresa Airport in Tirana, Albania starting from June 14, according to its executive director, Petrit Ujkaj, who stated that test flights had been taking place since March.
The company will also start New York-Pristina, Kosovo flights June 16.
The airline company targeted the Albanian Diaspora in the United States, offering all-tax included, one-way tickets starting at 250 euros.
“The alternative to high fares and lengthy travel times is at the top of the priority list aimed at growing the market,“ said Ujkaj.
Scanderbeg Air is cooperating with the Sacramento, California based air carrier Sky King Airlines as their direct air carrier, together with travel partners Public Charters.com as its indirect air carrier.
Fourteen airlines use the Tirana International Airport, with services to 33 destinations.
