TIRANA, Dec. 20 – Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Ilir Meta made a visit to Serbia last weekend where he met with all top officials. Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic assured Meta that Serbia remained open to dialogue and co-operation in all areas of common interest, especially economic and the EU integration process. Cvetkovic stressed his government’s commitment to the policy of good neighborly relations and strengthening of regional co-operation.
Meta said that bilateral co-operation could be boosted further both in the political and economic fields. On Kosovo, Cvetkovic stressed that dialogue is the only way to find a compromise solution. He also voiced Serbia’s expectations that all relevant institutions, particularly EULEX, will conduct a thorough investigation into allegations of human organ trafficking in Kosovo. Meta considered as baseless the report from Council of Europe’s Dick Marty on alleged organ trafficking after the Kosovo war in 1999, time when he served in the same post of the then-Socialist Party government.
