Serbia blocks 500 megawatts of electricity imported by Kosovo

One day after It was announced that Kosovo would perform independent energy operations, Serbia blocked the transmission of 500 megawatts of electricity which were imported by Kosovo. The news broke by Radio Free Europe, who quoted Nebih Zariqi, member of the board of the Transmission System Operator of Kosovo (KOSTT). According to Zariqi, the megawatts were replaced immediately by an agreement with North Macedonia, who provided with the energy supplies. Kosovo from Monday joined Albania’s energy bloc, after it began independent power operations from the SMM regulatory bloc (Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia). This move is expected to secure millions of euros of benefits both for Kosovo and Albania.
