TIRANA, Aug 13 – Albania will become a destination for Azerbaijani gas supplies from Turkey and Greece.
Last month the Merij passage of the Turkey-Greece natural gas pipeline was completed, and a ceremony was planed to be held during August 16-26 period.

The Turkey-Greece-Italy pipeline will deliver gas to Albania as well.

The Azerbaijani gas will have access to European markets, APA’s Turkey reported, quoting Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Gular.
The minister stressed the need for speeding up the transportation of Azeri gas to Europe through Turkey, adding the issue will be discussed in detail at bilateral meetings.
Gular said Turkish TPAO has proposed exploiting new oil and natural gas wells in Azerbaijan, which is considering the proposal.
He noted that Azerbaijan has more oil and gas resources than forecasted which stresses the need for enlarging the existing pipelines.
The Minister said that negotiations will be carried out on energy-trade after the production of natural gas begins.
