TIRANA, Aug. 28 – Police arrested Ahmet Kola, 62, for finding in his car 900 packets of cigarettes that were allegedly smuggled as they did not have the fiscal label required for them. Smuggled cigarettes have been a great headache for local authorities as hundreds of millions of dollars are evaded from tax payments each year. Following intensive work their number has been considerably reduced in the last years. In many cases police announces arrests or stopping smuggled cigarettes that normally come from neighboring Montenegro in the north.
