TIRANA, July 14 – The denial from the Central Elections Commission to recount the votes in Berat urged opposition Socialists to sue the head of the electoral authority Arben Ristani and other members who decided against that.
The socialists claim they may have another seat in Berat, the same as they achieved in Fier.
But the CEC decided in a vote of 4-2 that they had no evidence to prove that.
The Socialists said they will appeal to the Electoral College and also sued the four members with the abuse of post.
The recount of votes in Berat, Shkodra and capital Tirana (in certain polling stations) has been set as a pre-condition from the opposition Socialists or they have threatened not to recognize the election results and also hold street protests.
Socialists of Tirana mayor Edi Rama until now have won 66 seats, according to preliminary calculation of the vote count.
Governing Democrats of Prime Minister Sali Berisha have won 70 seats and the Socialist Movement for Integration of Ilir Meta four seats. The last two have also agreed to form a coalition for the new government.
