TIRANA, Dec. 9 – Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati said Monday in front of a parliamentary commission that the government may have to close some of its embassies in the world to cope with economic difficulties.
Bushati also said that the existence of some embassies did not justify the work they were doing. Bushati said that the embassies should serve the country and not a political party, accusing former governing Democrats of exploiting such places for their political goals.
But the minister also said that the restricted public budget for next year was another pressure to cut spending.
