TIRANA, Jan. 28 – The High State Audit, KLSH, reported this week that some 15 billion leks (about $150 million) in public funding have been involved in abuse by public institutions last year. KLSh made public its annual report last week. It said that such an abuse had mainly come from the improper collection of revenues and use of expenditures. “The audits in 2013 have revealed around 15.1 billion lek worth of financial irregularities,” KLSH Chairman Bujar Leskaj said. The main damage was caused by privatization and leasing and granting concession of state-owned properties. The KLSH also said it had also fined 25 town halls and commune municipalities for abuse of public funding.
