TIRANA, May 3؉talian company Terna is interested on the developing of an underwater connection line between Albania and Italy, the Albanian Minister for Economy, Trade and Energy Dritan Prifti said for the media. “This is good news for those who wish to invest to produce electricity in the Albania, because the energy which will not be sold in Albania will be sold in Italian market,” Minister Prifti said. Terna (www.terna.it) is the primary owner of the National High Voltage Electricity Transmission Grid (NTG), with over 62 thousand km of lines throughout the national territory. Terna is the first independent operator in Europe and the seventh in the world in terms of kilometers of lines managed. Albania has awarded five licenses for the construction of interconnection lines between the two countries, hoping that at least one of the licensed companies will be able to succeed. None of these companies has obtained the relevant license from the Italian authorities. The arrival of the outstanding Italian company Terna gives hope that more projects will be implemented.
