VLORA, May 24 – Two men were killed in a shooting Wednesday night in downtown Vlora’s Flag Square.

Local police told the media the two men were the head of power distributor OSHEE’s local branch, Roland Saliu, and Everest Hyseni, a local businessman who owned a local television station.

Saliu and Hyseni were sitting in an open air cafe when the gunfire started around 8 p.m.

From the shells collected at the scene, investigators have come to the conclusion that the authors were using automatic weapon.

The attackers fled the scene in a vehicle that was later found abandoned in the southern coastal city’s outskirts.

It’s unknown who the direct target of shooting was.

The murdered businessman also owned several other companies in addition to the television station, local media reported, speculating he was the most likely direct target. His young daughter was playing around the cafe and luckily escaped the shootout, several local media reported.

OSHEE is the state-owned national power distribution company and its executives usually have some political ties.
