Two Albanian companies on track to get new PPPs through controversial unsolicited proposals

TIRANA, June 21 – Two Albanian companies are on track to get new public private partnership contracts following unsolicited bids and bonuses giving them an advantage in upcoming tenders, defying calls by international financial institutions to eliminate that practice. The Albanian government approved this week bonuses to two companies for new PPP contracts to inspect fuel and liquid gas measurement systems, a service currently carried out by the state-run Directorate of Metrology, and building a new road linking the Yachts Ports in Vlora, southern Albania to the Llogara Pass, which is expected to become a toll road following its completion….
