The United States embassy in Tirana also published a statement Tuesday saying that the US Government also welcomed last night’s decision in Parliament to postpone voting on the draft Lustration Law.
In part, the statement read “We are encouraged that this important step will provide time for the measured reflection and open public debate necessary for a bill that raises serious constitutional and legal concerns. We also strongly urge that further consideration of this draft law incorporate the views of international legal experts to ensure its full compliance with international standards.”
