U.S. strongly supports Albania’s NATO integration efforts

TIRANA, Sep. 25 – U.S. Assistant Defense Secretary Debra Cagan thanked Albania for its contribution to peacekeeping missions in Iraq and Afghanistan and said that Washington hoped to soon be allied with Albania, referring to possible membership into NATO.
Cagan met with Albanian Defense Minister Fatmir Mediu to discuss bilateral issues and Albania’s army reform as Albania moves towards NATO integration, which it hopes to join in next year Bucharest summit.
