TIRANA, Feb 21 – Albanian Foreign Minister Lulzim Basha met with Jason Hyland, a senior US official of the Department of State in charge of central and southern Europe, the first US official to visit the country since the new administration in Washington.
Basha also thanked Washington for its support towards Albania’s membership process into NATO, something expected to be concluded at the April summit.
The minister also introduced to the US official the reforms of his government, especially the electoral reform ahead of the June 28 general polls.
Hyland hailed Albania’s moderate role for peace, stability and prosperity in the Balkan region.
Regional cooperation, Kosovo development and Euro-Atlantic prospects of the countries in the region were some main topics of discussion.
