TIRANA, Sep 24 – The foreign policy committee of the United State Senate voted unanimously to support Albania’s and Croatia’s membership into NATO.
Both countries received the NATO membership invitation at last NATO summit in April and following that they also signed the membership protocol.
The protocol has to be ratified by all NATO member countries (Hungary and Latvia have already done that) before the two countries may get the full membership.
Both countries hope they will become full NATO members next year at the alliance’s 60th anniversary celebration in Germany.
