Wanted Albanians arrested in European countries

TIRANA, April 14 – Four Albanians were extradited last week from various European countries.
Agim Xhambazi, 46, was arrested by Greek police after an international arrest warrant was issued charging him with trafficking in children. He is a main suspect, along with his wife Lindita Xhambazi, in a scheme to smuggle children to beg for money in Athens.
Dritan Xhelita, 33, was arrested by Belgian police. He is wanted by Albanian authorities who previously sentenced him to 18-year imprisonment for the murder of a policeman in 1998.
Lena Gjoni, 50, was arrested in Italy after being charged in a 1977 murder in a northern village.
Petrit Osmeni, 43, was arrested in Italy after authorities accused him of sexual exploitation for which he had been sentenced to nine years imprisonment in 2003.
Shpetim Berberi, 39, was extradited from Athens to serve a five-year prison term for theft.
Following exchange of the proper documentation and other procedures, these Albanians are expected to be extradited to Albania.
