Central Bank says 40 percent of Albanians dependent on remittances

Nearly 40 percent of Albanian households would be mired in poverty if it were not for the remittances that immigrant relatives send from abroad. The latest report on this vital economic factor has been identified in the recent study by the Bank of Albania (BoA). The World Bank studies have warned about this high level of dependency by pointing out that at a certain stage the level of remittances will fall, affecting the economy negatively.
