“Miss Shqip쳩a” the beauty pageant produced by Petri Bozo celebrated its 10th anniversary on Saturday. At a special evening gathering organized by its producer and staff, apart from the nine beauties who have won this contest over the years, many VIPs of the world of art, models from Albania and Kosovo, successful singers and actors were all there and they realized, between them, a magnificent evening of fun.
The Miss Shqiperia beauty pageant is the second national beauty contest in the country. The other contest is known as “Miss Albania”, which will also celebrate its tenth anniversary. The contention between the two national beauty contests has greatly confused the public, media and especially the representation by the Albanian beauties in international beauty pageants.
Where are the Albanian Misses today?
Their social status changed once that crown was placed on their heads, the most beautiful women of Albania. The beauties who were single are now married, the young Miss Albania-s who were in their years of secondary school are now completing higher studies, some of them have preferred bowing out of the world of art altogether, others are still very active in this business and remain the beautiful faces on television. Aldona Elezi is the first young girl to have been crowned Miss Albania and claimed the prize of fifteen thousand dollars. Today she leads a life that is a long way from show biz and is continuing higher studies in Italy. She says that she lives torn between Italy and Albania. In view of the fact that my family has emigrated to Italy some months ago, I too am in the process of completing applications to live in neighboring Italy as well.(Tirana Times Staff)
