TIRANA, March 25 -Prosecutors investigating the blasts at an Albanian disposal ammunition factory have questioned senior army officials, including Chief of Staff Gen. Lt. Luan Hoxha and his deputy Gen. Lt. Shpetim Spahiu.
It has been disclosed that military officials allege former Defense Minister Fatmir Mediu had not listened to warnings regarding the selection of the depot and the destruction of ammunition there.
Mediu previously declared that the generals had approved the location of the operation to deactivate the munitions in Gerdec.
For years, Albania has been trying to dismantle their obsolete military arsenal in conjunction with hopes to join NATO next month.
Former Defense Minister Fatmir Mediu has already been questioned by prosecutors.
