First waste disposal landfill in Tirana

TIRANA, Sep 21 – The first waste landfill in Tirana suburbs Sharra was inaugurated last week following a programme of “management of solid waste in Tirana” financed by the Italian Development Cooperation with a credit of 6.4 million euro.
During the ceremony Albanian Minister of Transport and Telecommunications Sokol Olldashi underlined the effectiveness of the Italian solidarity fund, reminding that the commitment in the water and sewage sector is a government’s priority for the whole country.
He also expressed his satisfaction with the solid training component of the project, directed both to technical staff and officials in charge of the municipality of Tirana.
Italian Ambassador to Albania Saba d’Elia stressed the importance of the construction of the first waste disposal dump which is in compliance with the European standards, boasting an attitude of growing sensitivity with which Albania is facing the territory and environment management and hoping for continuation of the profitable cooperation between Italy and Albania.
