CoE Development Bank to lend Albania 40mln Euros for rural road projects

TIRANA, March 14 – the Albanian finance ministry reported that the Council of Europe Development Bank has agreed to lend Albania 40 million Euros for the improvement of the country’s rural roads.
Albanian deputy finance minister Sherefedin Shehu was in Paris to negotiate the loan terms.
The project for reconstruction or rehabilitation of the local and regional network will improve circulation for residents and businesses, improving access to essential services and major highways.
The overall program will cover up to1,500 kilometers of roadway with a total cost of $200-400 million.
The project has also secured other loans from the World Bank, the OPEC Fund for International Development, and the European Union though it has yet to reach its total figure.
