TIRANA, Tuesday 17ؓources from the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Energy (METE) have announced an open international tender for the construction of the Spitalla International Park. METE is already sending out invitations to bid to different companies.
The Spitalla Park is one out many industrial parks being built throughout Albania and is considered to be the biggest and most important project of its kind. The Park will cover an area of 850 hectares by the Adriatic coast and it will function as a coal fueled thermoplant and petrol and gas deposits. It will reflect the present day standards required for proper economic development, but what makes it more important is its strategic position. The Spitalla Park is situated next to the Durres port, the main national airport, and is surrounded by the main road arteries of the country, an assurance for its potential development and stable functionality.
So far, the government has approved the future constructions of industrial parks in Vlora, Shengjin, and Koplik. Two more industrial parks in Shkodra of 130 hectares and Elbasan, 250 hectares, are already under construction and are expected to finish within 2009. All industrial parks will be managed by the private sector.
