TIRANA, Thursday 19עConcessions for the constructions of small (local) Hydro Power Plants (HPP) throughout Albania are in full development stage,” said Genc Ruli, Ministry of Economy, Transports, and Energey (METE), in a meeting for “Investing in small HPPs”. Ruli based his statement on the huge number of concession applications to build local HPPs. METE has already signed 18 concession contracts for small HPPs with installed power varying from 2MW to 10 MW. The tenders were open and competitive according to METE.
Also, another 45 concession contracts are under evaluation from METE itself and the National Agency of Natural Resources (AKBN).
“Our country, as it is already known, has a great potential of hydro powered energy and only 35% of its capacity is being used today. It is our job to identify the opportunities and to further improve the energy regulations,” Ruli concluded.
