TIRANA, April 15؂ank of Albania (BoA) sold 14.7 billion ALL (113 million EUR; 150 million USD) in 6- and 12-mo Treasury bill issues in an auction held on Tuesday, as the yields were mixed, the bank said on Wednesday.
The Bank of Albania offered and sold 8.2 billion ALL worth of six-month T-bills. They produced a weighted average yield of 7.68%, up from the 7.61% achieved in the previous auction held on March 17.
The bank also sold its entire offer of 12-mo T-bills, worth 6.5 billion ALL, as the yields remained unchanged for a second consecutive auction.
The Bank of Albania has auctioned Treasury bills worth 113 billion ALL since the beginning of the year. It auctioned T-bills worth 373 billion ALL in par value last year, compared to 386.83 billion ALL in 2007.
In addition, BoA auctioned 3.8 billion ALL (29.2 million EUR; $38.9 million USD) worth of two-year Treasury notes on April 16, the bank said on Thursday.
The T-notes carried a fixed coupon of 9.30% and have an issue date of April 21.
In the last auction in March, when the bank sold 3.6 billion ALL worth of two-year T-notes, yields rose to 9.25% from 9.15% in the February auction. Albania’s central bank auctions two-year T-notes each month on behalf of the Finance Ministry.
Since the beginning of the year the bank has sold 9.6 billion ALL worth of two-year Treasury notes. Last year the bank sold 27.5 billion ALL worth of two-year T-notes.
