Hypertension and diabetes – most common long threats

TIRANA, May 4 – Hypertension and diabetes are at the top of the list for reimbursed medicine – declared the Health Insurance Institute (Instituti i Sigurimeve t롋ujdesit Sh쯤et촯r – ISKSH), citing data collected for the month of March. In March 2009, over 85 million Albanian lek련ALL) were reimbursed to 95,742 patients suffering from hypertension, and over 37 million ALL were reimbursed to diabetes sufferers, as well as over 33 million ALL to sufferers from Thalassemia.
Based on this data, the local press qualifies these forlonging diseases as the most widely spread persisting diseases among Albanians (Gazeta Shqiptare, 4.05.2009). After hypertension and diabetes come bronchial asthma, cardiac insufficiency, chronic kidney insufficiency and mammal malign tumor with over 27 million, 24 million, 20 million and 14 million ALL reimbursed.
According to ISKSH, retired people can benefit from 100 % reimbursement for any of the 400 medicines that are on the reimbursable drugs’ list. The list is expected to change.(Tirana Times Staff)
