TIRANA, Aug 31 – Albania and Turkey have signed an agreement on abolishing visa requirements for the citizens of both countries.
Under the agreement, Albanian citizens may stay in Turkey for 90 days over six months and vice versa.
Last September the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) and Albania also introduced a free visa regime, while this summer Tirana’s government adopted a special decision on annulling the visa requirements during the holiday season for several European countries, including Serbia, Russia, and Ukraine
Many Albanians go for summer vacations in Turkey’s tourist resorts and the lack of a visa problem has been a main reason for that.
Albanians hope that the government and political pledge of visa lifting for the EU Schengen countries may likely become a reality.
