Retail sales up 1.6% on the year

TIRANA, Sep 22؁lbania’s retail sales turnover index increased by 1.6% in the second quarter of 2009 from the same period a year earlier, and by 11.6% from the first quarter, the Institute of Statistics, INSTAT, reported.
Specialized stores with food, beverages and tobacco showed a 1% decrease in turnover against the previous quarter, INSTAT said in a statement.
Total sales and repair of motor vehicles decreased by 3.2% compared to the previous quarter.
