KfW Bank signs pact with Albania to finance 110kV energy line

TIRANA, Oct 5ؔhe German Bank for Development and Reconstruction (KfW) signed an accord with Albania’s KESH-OST electricity transmission system operator to lend 49 million euro for construction of a 110kV energy line in southern Albania.
The project aims to improve the energy sector through use of the planned interconnection line, management of KESH-OST said in a statement.
A grant of 800,000 euro was also provided by Germany’s KfW to provide consultancy support for the project.
In September, KESH-OST signed an agreement with Kosovo’s electricity transmission, system and market operator, KOSTT, to build a 400kV connection between the two neighboring nations.
The major project expected to cost 70 million euro will be partly financed by the German Bank for Development and Reconstruction (KfW).
Germany has been active in Albania since 1988 through financing of 850 million euro, mainly for energy projects.
