TIRANA, Oct 21 – This year’s SIFE Albania team returned this week from Berlin as proud semi-finalists of the year’s SIFE World Cup. The Albania team, representing the University of Tirana’s Faculty of Economics, competed against students from 40 countries who presented economic development projects implemented in their host countries. This is the fourth straight year the Albania team has taken part in this international competition thanks to the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
SIFE is an international non-profit organization that works with leaders in business and higher education to mobilize university students to make a difference in their communities while developing the skills to become socially responsible business leaders. Each year, SIFE organizes a series of regional and national competitions that provides a forum for teams to present the results of their projects and to be evaluated by business leaders serving as judges. National champion teams advance to the prestigious SIFE World Cup.
Directors of international business companies evaluated the SIFE Albania team’s outreach programs as demonstrating excellent knowledge on market economics and recognizing the impact that they had on the targeted communities. The Albania team scored higher than teams from the UK, Poland, Russia, Holland, Sweden.
