Berisha: One of the top priorities of the Albanian government is developing and using available energy resources.

TIRANA TIMES – TIRANA, April 9

Albania’s government made a pitch to attract foreign investors at a conference in Tirana this week, where Prime Minister Sali Berisha said Albania might be a small country but it has great potential.
The Investment in Albania Conference was organized by the Albanian government to coincide with the visit of the Estonian prime minister.
Berisha said the country is full of examples of foreign companies that had been successful. He credited good legislation and Albania’s great resources in energy, tourism and mines for that success.
Berisha said one of the top priorities of the Albanian government is developing and using available energy resources through domestic and foreign investment.
He said the government wants Albania to become an energy superpower in the region, telling potential investors that Albania’s energy sector is a sure bet.
“The geographical position and natural resources Albania has make it very appropriate to invest in the energy field,” Berisha said.
Berisha said tourism is also a priority area, offering great opportunities for foreign investors.
He said Albania’s beautiful coastline with its diverse beaches on the Adriatic and Ionian provide a variety of opportunities for investment in tourism.
Albania’s tourism sector has been rapidly growing and attracting the attention of many European and regional travel agencies.
Despite the global financial crisis, Albania’s tourism sector has seen a lot of growth, increasing by 35 percent last year alone, according to Berisha.
Of particular interest in the Albania-Estonia relations, the prime minister said Albania is interested in making the country more computer-friendly, following the Estonian approach to advanced technology.
