Tirana, April 8 – The Immovable Property Registration Office has signed a contract with Denmark’s BlomInfo A/S for the initial registration of 50 cadastral zones in Albania. The contract was signed by the Albanian chief Registrar, Arben Qiriako and Kristian Skak-Nielsen, the director of BlomInfo A/S” in the frame of the creation of a new electronic register of immovable properties.
Some 190,000 properties will be initially registered under the two-year contract with the Danish company which expires in April 2012, the Central Immovable Property Registration Office said in a statement.
The selection of the Danish company was made in an international tender organized by the Registration Office. The tender was part of the land administration and management project financed by the World Bank. The overall goal of the long term land administration and management program is to facilitate the development of efficient land and property markets through enhancing tenure security and improving land administration and management services.
Since its establishment in May 1998, BlomInfo A/S has become a leading mapping and GIS company in Denmark. It has undertaken projects in both the home market and abroad.
Meanwhile, another company is working for the initial registration of 120,000 properties in 22 cadastral zones as part of the World Bank funded project expected to finish in May 2011.
A public awareness campaign supporting the registration of immovable property is also being held.
The registration process for the immovable properties has already started in several cadastral areas in Shkodra, Saranda, Vloram Fier and Durers. Buildings under the legalization process will also be registered as part of the establishment of the electronic register expected to improve service and store data more efficiently.
