Banks assets rise to 6.8 bn euros at end-March

TIRANA, May 4ؔhe stock of assets in Albania banks reached ALL 931bn (EUR 6.8bn) at the end of March, the latest data release of the central bank reveals.
In IntelliNews calculations, assets have expanded by some 10.6% y/y, accounting for 73% of the full-year GDP projection. IntelliNews notes that the growth accelerated for a sixth consecutive month since September 2009, when it posted a 2.8% y/y increase.
The growth at end-March is also up by 9.5% y/y. In monthly terms, the assets increased by 1%. Government securities accounted for a considerable 31.2% share of the total asset stock, rising 12% y/y at end-March.
