Customs revenue has also increased, putting some much needed money into the coffers of the customs administration and the state budget.
The latest figures released by the customs office show the administration collected 7.5 billion lek more than last year in the first half of 2010. Albanian customs were able to get 55 billion lek in 2010, up from 47.7 billion collected in the same six month period last year.
Customs clearance of goods with excise taxes during the first 6 months of 2010 showed particular increase. Fuel also marked an increase.
The customs administration said the June performance recovered the deficit created during the first months of 2010, managing to fulfill 100 percent of the revenue targets for the first half of 2010.
Data show the first half of 2010 registered 32 tons more in customs clearance of cigarettes and 26,345 tons more in fuel compared to the same period last year.
