TIRANA, July 14 – Government approved on Wednesday some changes to the personal income tax law, obliging all individual or self-employed taxpayers, residents or non-residents in Albania to submit their personal income declaration each year to the central tax administration. The declaration should not be submitted later than April 30, starting from next year, according to new changes.
Only self-employed taxpayer with an annual turnover of 2 million lek and individuals with income up to 200,000 lek a year are excluded from this obligation.
Earlier this year, Prime Minister Sali Berisha said that under the personal declaration of income, the Finance Ministry would refund citizens at the end of the year for the excess taxes they have paid based on the bills they possess.
He described the income declaration by citizens as a modern European practice which was coming late to Albania.
