PRISHTINA, Sep. 5 – A new cathedral honoring Albanian Catholic nun and Nobel Peace Prize recipient Mother Teresa was inaugurated in the Kosovar capital Prishtina on Sunday.
It was funded by donations from Albanians and the ceremony was attended by thousands of Catholics from the area and neighboring countries following the mass by Archbishop Zef Gashi, sent as a special representative by Pope Benedict XVI.
When completed, its towers will reach 70 meters into the sky.
The ceremony took place on what would have been the 100th birthday of the nun, who inspired many people around the world with her acts of charity.
