TIRANA, Nov. 4 – Dozens of publishing houses from Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Diaspora have confirmed their participation in the 13th edition of the Tirana book fair, the biggest annual book event bringing Albanian publishers together.
The “Tirana 2010” book fair, organized by the Albanian Publishers Association, will be held from November 11 to 15 at the Palace of Congresses in Tirana, where thousands of book titles by Albanian and foreign authors will be introduced in stands. Organizers say they will award prizes for the best publishing house, best writer and translator.
Several book promotion ceremonies and discussions with participating writers have also been scheduled. The book fair is also considered an opportunity to promote reading by offering books at discount.
Last August, Albanian publishers had their publications displayed for one week from August 12 to 18 in the tourist city of Vlora, southern Albania, which at that time was packed by holidaymakers from Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia.
The annual fair came after its successful display in Montenegro’s Ulcinj where it remained open from July 28 to August 3.
Some 50 publishers from Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia displayed 11,000 book titles, of which 600 new ones, in the city’s main boulevard of Vlore-Skele along the sea.
