Fier hosts int. competition of artistic photography

TIRANA, Dec. 8 – Sixty-eight professional photographers have been selected for the fifth edition of the Fokus 2010 international competition of artistic photography whose winner will be announced on Friday, December 10 in a ceremony at the Bylis theatre in the southwestern city of Fier. The short-listed artists, selected out of 170 applications, come from Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Greece, Serbia, Montenegro, Turkey, Germany, Denmark, the United States etc.
An international jury composed of 3 artists will announce this year’s winner of the international competition, which is becoming a new tradition in Fier and Albania.
The Fokus competition is an artistic activity aimed at identifying and evaluating the health and vitality of the artistic photography and to detect underlying trends, organizers say. In addition, it is a opportunity for a free and transparent expression in the world of artistic photography. The goal of this activity is the confrontation of different schools and experiences from the region, targeting to give an incentive to a professional dialogue on artistic photography and turning it into an annual meeting point of the confrontation of these global values.
