TIRANA, April 15 – The Central Technical Inspectorate has fined 45 companies or fuel stations that have offered polluted fuel to the clients.
They had supplied fuel with much more sulphide than the allowed norms.
Bad fuel has always been a serious problem in post-communist Albania. That has turned into a serious concern in polluting the environment and also damaging the vehicles using that.
In previous cases, the authorities had fined fewer companies, and did not make the names public.
This time, the new government has decided to let people know which are the worst places to fuel up their cars.
The fines, going from 300,000 to 1 million leks, included Turkish company Kurum International that runs a plant in central city of Elbasan.
