TIRANA, April 30 – Internationally renowned Albanian soprano Inva Mula has been accepted as a fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science for her distinction in art and remarkable international accomplishments.
“My acceptance as a fellow of the Academy is an achievement which I share with you,” Mula commented on social networks with her fans.
The World Academy of Art and Science is composed of 730 individual Fellows from diverse cultures, nationalities, and intellectual disciplines, chosen for eminence in art, the natural and social sciences, and the humanities. Established in 1960 by distinguished individuals concerned by the impact of the explosive growth of knowledge, its activities seek to address global issues related to the social consequences and policy implications of knowledge
Mula was born in Albania in an artist family. She graduated as a soprano singer from the Academy of Arts, Tirana, Albania, with the final performance as Violetta in La traviata, by G. Verdi. This performance opened for her the doors of the National Theater of Opera and Ballet of Albania, Tirana, where she was participating as a soloist in the period of five years in several operas written by foreign and domestic composers. In 1992, she moved to Paris, France, and has been there ever since. Her international career began in the operas in Avignon, France, in Bonn, Germany, and in Los Angeles, Washington, DC, Chicago and New York, USA. She had great success as Gilda in Rigoletto, by G. Verdi, in the Marseille Opera, France, in 1997, as well as Nannette in Falstaff, by G. Verdi, in La Scala, Milan, Italy, in 1998. She has performed the role of Violetta in La traviata in the operas in Montpellier, Toulouse, Nice and Paris, France, in Madrid and Bilbao, Spain, in London, UK, in Berlin, Germany, in Trieste, Italy, in Vienna, Austria, in Toronto, Canada, in Tokyo, Japan, and in other places. She is considered one of today’s great sopranos for her capacity to move from the Italian bel canto roles to the roles of French heroines. She reached a peak in her career in the 2009/10 season in the Paris Opera playing the role of Mirelle in Mireille, by Ch. Gounod. Currently, she is the Vice-President of the Academy of Arts and Sciences of Albania. She also teaches at the ʣole Normale Sup곩eure de Musique de Paris. In 2006, she became the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de France.
