Dozens of companies go bankrupt

TIRANA, July 14 – More than 70 companies have declared bankruptcy since late May 2015, according to the National Registration Centre, a one-stop shop for business registration.

The bankrupt businesses, the majority of which are SMEs, have officially informed the National Registration Center they have closed down their activity and gone into liquidation, asking creditors to file their claims.

The companies operate in trade, services, consultancy, construction and micro-finances sectors.

In its latest annual report, state statistical institute, INSTAT, reports that the number of active enterprises in Albania rose by 1,543 to 112,537 at the end of 2014.

The overwhelming majority of active enterprises are SMEs with big enterprises employing more than 50 people accounting for only 1.3 percent of total enterprises.
