TIRANA, Oct. 7 – Ismail Morina, the man behind the drone banner in last year’s abandoned Albania-Serbia match, has been arrested in Tirana for illegal possession of two handguns, police said.
Authorities stopped Morina’s car on Wednesday morning to conduct a search. He was arrested after they found two illegal guns and 36 tickets to Thursday night’s Albania-Serbia return match in Elbasan Arena. He told police the guns were for self protection.
Three other men traveling in the vehicle were also arrested.
Several reports on Albanian media indicated police were closely watching Morina as part of their security measures for the Serbia match.
